Update from Saint Marc School

Faith and Growth!
While many headlines focus on the difficulties facing Haiti, Saint Marc School serves as a refreshing example of a community that is not just surviving, but thriving. The school is currently doing very well, buoyed by a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to its students.
The Need for Space
The school is currently facing a significant overcrowding crisis. Because the school is a located in a safer community, many families from other MP Schools have come there. We have many eager students but very little physical space to house them. We are looking at ways to expand our footprint to ensure every child has a comfortable and effective environment in which to learn.
Resilience Amidst Uncertainty
Operating a school in the current climate requires a “thick skin” and a steady heart. The city of Saint Marc is not immune to the psychological warfare used by local gangs. Frequent rumors and information regarding “intentions to invade” the city are circulated, which naturally creates high levels of stress and trouble for families. Despite these threats, the school remains a sanctuary. We focus on providing a calm, predictable routine for the children to help offset the anxiety they may feel outside our walls.
A Foundation of Christian Education
Saint Marc School continues to provide a solid Christian Education, offering a spiritual and moral foundation. We are especially thankful for our dedicated principle and staff who ensure that biblical values are woven into the fabric of every school day. We aren’t just teaching math and literacy; we are building the character of Haiti’s next generation of leaders.
At Saint Marc, we are crowded because we are a place of hope. We choose to focus on the Word of God rather than the rumors of the world.
